I love everything about London. The background, the purchasing, the style — and of course, the resorts! One of my absolute favorites is Rosewood London, that opened to much fanfare. From the outside, it looks very much a traditional hotel, place in a circa-1914  building with wrought iron gates representing the courtyard entrance.

Inside, things get more interesting. I really like  the striped flooring in the lobby, and also the collection of artwork and coffee table books make it feel more like a salon in relation to a lobby.

Design touches are everywhere, by the birdcages by the elevator to this  hallway off the main lobby, which left me swoon!

Room decor takes cues from more clubby, Edwardian manor homes and manly than the frilly Victorian you visit in hotels. Rooms are elegant yet comfy, with seating areas light and beds.

You can find 44 signature suites, each unique in style and decor  —  pricey however beautiful, if you would like to splurge. My fave is the Garden House Suite, which comes  with its very own patio, your very own escape in the city’s heart.

For dining Holborn Dining Room is available from breakfast, and serves up tasty classics from chicken pot pies with mushy peas.

Best is Scarfes Bar. It is everything you want a resort bar to be and unique, totally reflective of its city, with a menu that is tasty small-bites and fantastic mixologists. The title means  caricaturist Gerald Scarfe, whose glowing illustrations of notable English personalities — everyone from Tony Blair to Charlie Watts — line the walls.

Along with homey leather sofas and upholstered seats, there is live jazz every night, a fireplace to take the chill off, and patrons as mixed and intriguing as the decor, from hotel guests to professionals happy-houring after   work and chic Londoners popping in for drinks after theater in the neighboring West End.

Cozy up by the fireplace and people-watch the evening away, a way to kick off a honeymoon.
