Honeymoon Advice from Travel Pros

Post by admin

We were tickled pink when U.S. News & World Report Travel requested us to participate in a honeymoon-themed Twitter chat, alongside pals from Destination I Do and The Knot, and travel pros from Budget Travel, TravelZoo and more. Some great suggestions and fave spots were highlighted, so in the event that you missed it, here’s a link to the official recap!

A few of our favorite tips:

From Destination I Do: “Do not program every second of this honeymoon. Have “should see” activities in your list, but try to keep it flexible.” We could not agree Part of the joy of traveling is having downtime to sit down on a balcony and watch the world go by, or to wander.

From The Knot: “Unconventional places we love are Cappadocia, Turkey; Spitsbergen, Norway; and Sedona, Arizona! Perfect for adventures.” We love Turkey as a honeymoon spot; it’s town, beach, culture, amazing food–you name it! Norway is expensive although great save up, or better yet do it! As Sedona, honeymoon, mini-moon, pre-wedding spa escape — we like it all for!

From Destination I Do: “River cruises are popular –sail down the Amazon, Danube River or Mekong River. So relaxing & you see up cities close.” We LOVE small-ship cruising as a honeymoon option, particularly. Ladies, good one!

From Budget Travel: “Do not book a hotel miles away from the action simply to save money; you’ll repent the schlep and missing time.” This is especially true in Europe, where taxis can be super-pricey. Gets eaten up by restricted meal choices, taxi fare and traffic frustration.

By The Plunge: “Ring insurance — yeah, you require it.” We add travel insurance in there. Honeymoons are costly, and you want to secure your investment should you need to switch dates due to unforeseen conditions. (Jury responsibility, anyone?)

Everybody agreed that working with a travel planner can’t just save you planning time but secure you perks you can’t get by yourself. We couldn’t agree more! Want to begin? Here’s how.
